Trump threatens China with 50% tariffs if it provides weapons to Iran

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threatened China with ‘big problems’ if reports are confirmed that it is preparing to send arms to Iran.

On Saturday, the president warned China of ‘big problems’ if the reports of preparing to send arms to Iran are confirmed.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threatened on Sunday to impose 50% tariffs on Chinese imports if Beijing provides weapons to Iran.

Trump launched this warning during an interview with Fox News after CNN revealed that US intelligence believes the Chinese government is preparing to deliver anti-aircraft missile systems to Tehran.

‘I doubt they would do it, because I have a good relationship and I think they won’t do it,’ said Trump, who added: ‘But if we catch them doing that, they will be imposed a 50% tariff, which is an amazing amount’.

On Saturday, Trump warned China that it will have ‘big problems’ if the reports are confirmed that it is preparing to send arms to Iran.

‘If China does that, China will have big problems’, he told the press at the White House before flying to Florida.

Trump is scheduled to travel to Beijing in May to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

US intelligence also believes that Iran would be using the current ceasefire as an opportunity to replenish certain weapon systems with the help of partners like Beijing.

Iran and the United States did not reach a peace agreement on Saturday in the negotiations in Islamabad. According to Vice President JD Vance, the main obstacle to the signing was Iran’s refusal to commit to not seeking a nuclear weapon in the long term.

On Sunday, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he ordered the Navy to begin a perimeter closure of the Strait of Hormuz, currently under Iranian control, and warned that he would intercept ‘in international waters’ any ship that has paid Iran to cross this strategic passage.

Hours earlier, the head of the Iranian delegation and president of the Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, assured that the United States did not gain Iran’s trust and that now it must decide if it is capable of doing so. ‘The United States has understood our logic and our principles, and now it’s up to them to decide if they can gain our trust or not’, Qalibaf said in a message on the social network X.
