Roblox Kids And Select Arrive: More AI, New Parental Controls And Chat Restrictions

The company has announced the arrival of a special version for children and adolescents within the platform, called Roblox Kids and Roblox Select.

How will Roblox Kids and Select work?

Roblox Kids is designed for children under 9 years old, with no access to chat and more parental controls, while Roblox Select is for users between 9 and 15 years old.

Both versions will use the same age verification technology that Roblox implemented earlier this year for chat, which scans the user’s face to estimate their age.

What are the key features of Roblox Kids and Select?

Roblox Kids will have a blue interface and Roblox Select will have a black interface, and both will have access to games that have passed a rigorous review process.

The catalogs of these new versions will include most of the games that users of these age groups already play.

How will parental controls work?

Parents will be able to block specific games and manage direct chat in the experiences until their children turn 16.

Additionally, parents will be able to approve specific games for minors under 16.

All games will go through a three-stage review process before being made available to younger users.
